Selection Event for Taranaki Teams
Sunday saw the surf building and by the afternoon there was quite a challenging wave for the selection trials for the Taranaki team. A strong cross wind added a further degree of difficulty to the course. Thirty plus competitors from Fitzroy, East End and NPOB fronted at Fitzroys beach, all hoping to gain a place in the team. There were a few spectacular wipe outs, as well as some outstanding performances. The next selection event will be at CRC’s over at Waimarama, next weekend.
There are two inter-regional competitions coming up. The first is a challenge against the Norther Region, which will be held on 23rd January at Oakura.
The second is the Regional Championships to be held at Mount Maunganui on 1st February, following ERC’s.

Junior Surf Start Up
The great weather we had over Christmas and the New Year, unfortunately did not grace the start up for Junior Surf. However the cloudy skies and strong winds didn’t deter the numerous enthusiastic Junior members from joining in.
After some fun races and games on the grass, it was time to ‘get wet’. At least the sea felt warm compared to the windy beach.
