WHAT IS JUNIOR SURF?
Junior surf involves children from 5 up to 14 years of age. It’s about fostering confidence and safety in the surf and on the beaches, within a fun, friendly and healthy environment.
Junior members are tutored by senior lifeguards and coaches on subjects that are relevant to beach safety and understanding of sea conditions. They will train for, and participate in competition events called ‘Carnivals’. The level of instructions is obviously suited to the age group.
We aim to build your child’s confidence in the sea, make them aware of the dangers and enable them to assess their own limitations. Family participation plays a huge part in its success.
Weather and sea conditions permitting, we try to GET WET every Club Training Day. Having fun is what it’s all about!
Our season runs from November through to March. We also have winter training for the older ‘mad keen’ children.
Club Training Days are held each Sunday, 9.45am to 12pm.
Our day ends with a sausage sizzle to warm up and feed the tummy!
